Former Dandenong Stingrays winger Georgia Gee was nominated for the 2019 NAB AFL Women’s Rising Star award for her efforts in Carlton’s win in Round 6.
Now 11 games into her AFLW career, the hard-running 160cm 19-year-old recorded 12 disposals in the Blues’ 16-point victory over Brisbane at IKON Park on Sunday.
Gee was selected by Carlton with pick no.12 at the 2017 AFLW Draft following a stellar under-18 season. She earned Team of the Year honours following four U18 Girls games for Dandenong and was also selected in the AFLW U18 All Australian team for her performances in four matches for Vic Country at the 2017 AFLW U18 Championships.
The Beaconsfield (South East Juniors) product made six appearances in her debut AFLW season in 2018 and is averaging 11 disposals and four tackles per game so far in 2019.
Gee joins fellow former Victorian U18 Girls players Nina Morrison (Geelong Falcons to Geelong AFLW), Madison Prespakis (Calder Cannons to Carlton AFLW), Eden Zanker (Bendigo Pioneers to Melbourne), Sarah Dargan (Calder Cannons to Collingwood AFLW) and Olivia Purcell (Geelong Falcons to Geelong AFLW) as AFLW Rising Star nominees this year.
