Former Calder Cannons forward/midfielder Sarah Dargan was nominated for the 2019 NAB AFL Women’s Rising Star award following her efforts in a losing cause for Collingwood in Round 4.
The 165cm 20-year-old recorded 16 disposals, six tackles and a goal in her seventh AFLW match, when the Magpies lost to GWS by nine points at Morwell Recreation Reserve on Sunday.

Dargan was selected by Collingwood with pick no.20 at the 2017 AFLW Draft after playing four games in Calder’s premiership-winning U18 Girls season. She also represented Vic Metro in four matches at the 2017 AFLW U18 Championships – the third straight time she had appeared on the national stage.
The Pascoe Vale (Essendon District FL) product played three AFLW matches and three Swisse Wellness VFL Women’s games for the Magpies in 2018 but has taken her game to a new level in 2019.
She joins fellow former Victorian U18 Girls players Nina Morrison (Geelong Falcons to Geelong AFLW), Madison Prespakis (Calder Cannons to Carlton AFLW) and Eden Zanker (Bendigo Pioneers to Melbourne) as AFLW Rising Star nominees this year.
