TOP 2019 AFLW DRAFT PROSPECTS

Georgia Patrikios (local club – Pascoe Vale): “Georgia was an U18 All Australian last year as a bottom-ager. She has good clean skills and good leg speed as a midfielder. She gets the ball, carries it and hits up forwards with her kicks.”

Krstel Petrevski (Pascoe Vale): “Krstel has good skills and she’s starting to understand football a lot better. She came over from Western Australia last year and I think the penny’s dropped that she could be an AFLW player. She plays in the midfield but can also play off half back.”

POTENTIAL DRAFT SURPRISE PACKET

Alana Barba (Roxburgh Park): “Alana came into our program as a 16-year-old when she was playing soccer. Her improvement over the last two years and her training at the moment shows she’s doing everything possible to be drafted. She has good leg speed to break away from stoppages and she knows where the goals are.”

16/17YO PLAYERS TO WATCH

Laura Cocomello (17yo in 2019, Strathmore): “Laura’s strong, she’s a good size and she can run with the footy. This year we just need to tighten her up on her foot skills, but if we can do that then I think she’s quite draftable next year.”

Georgie Prespakis (16yo, Sunbury): “Georgie is (2018 Carlton draftee) Maddy Prespakis’ younger sister. She’s as clever as Maddy and has great skills.”

Tahlia Gillard (16yo, Moonee Valley): “Tahlia is already 187cm tall and I think she’s still growing. She covers the ground well and she has a good skill set.”

LEADERSHIP MATERIAL

Georgia Patrikios (see above), Felicity Theodore (18yo, Sunbury), Terira Fry (18yo, Sunbury) and Tamsin Crook (17yo, Moonee Valley) will likely be in the running to be members of our leadership group.”

FAMOUS FOOTBALL RELATIONS

Krstel Petrevski (see above): Cousin of current AFL player Sam Petrevski-Seton – 42 games for Carlton.

Georgie Prespakis (see above): Sister of 2018 Carlton AFLW draftee Madison Prespakis.

TEAM STRENGTHS

“This year we definitely have a better mix of talls and smalls as well as inside and outside players, which I think makes us more flexible. We also think our 16-year-olds are coming into the program better prepared than our current 17-year-olds did and that bodes well for this year and the future.”
